Natalie McMillan at a presentation tableMajor Job/Position Responsibilities:  As a foodservice territory manager, my main responsibility is increasing sales in my territory.  Daily I visit customer kitchens in restaurants, sports venues, hospitals, and colleges where I present and sell Hormel products.  Additionally, I participate in food shows and sales meetings to continuously promote Hormel.  Each day looks slightly different, and I am constantly learning new skills and gaining industry knowledge.

What you like most about your job/position? I’ve always been drawn towards a career in food where I use and build upon the food science skills I learned at Iowa State - my role with Hormel offers that and so much more.  I also love the opportunity to move around with Hormel.  Since graduating, I have lived in Memphis, Charlotte, and Cincinnati.  I have found fellow Cyclones to connect with in each of those cities.

What advice would you give to current students pursuing a career in Agriculture and Life Sciences? Cast a wide net of people and experiences during your time on campus.  Experiences you create on campus will shape both your personal and professional growth, equipping you with skills for success beyond college.  There are so many opportunities to take advantage of during your time on campus.  Find what interests you and get involved, even if it doesn’t perfectly align with your major. You never know how those connections will benefit you in the future!
